One of the most notable landmarks of the city of Prior Lake, Minnesota is one of its parks, whose name is Lakefront Park. This place has many things to offer you, and I can assure you that you will have a great and relaxing time here in Lakefront park.
The gem of the City of Prior Lake’s park system, Lakefront Park, hosts the annual Lakefront Days celebration and many other community events. The park was developed in 2001. It’s a 130-acre community treasure featuring an amphitheater, an extensive three-mile-plus trail system, floating boardwalk and fishing pier, Watzl’s Beach, a pavilion, two park shelters. Other amenities include a large playground area, a skate park, two full-sized hockey rinks, a pleasure rink, a full-sized soccer field, a baseball diamond, tennis courts, a basketball court, a winter sliding hill, a sand volleyball court and capacity for more than 200 cars.
The park has a pavilion and a gazebo, this pavilion was designed to be the centerpiece of Lakefront Park and is used year-round for public and private events. The pavilion is available to be rented for small weddings, receptions, reunions, parties and business meetings year-round. It seats up to 60 inside and includes an extended outdoor veranda with built-in seating for an additional 80.
Nestled on the shores of Prior Lake, Watzl’s Beach is accessible from lakefront Park and includes a swimming beach, picnic area, boat docks for accessing the beach from the lake, restroom facilities and vending machines. The beach is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Lakefront Days and July 4th fireworks are fired from the beach and the Prior Lake Ski Club often uses this site for performances. The beach area also includes 18 boat slips, nine of which can be reserved.
Lakefront Park also has a playground, which offers a wide range of activities, including basketball, four square, swings, slides and jungle gyms. The playground is handicapped accessible and meets today’s safety requirements. Watch loved ones and enjoy a view of the park from the many benches in this area. The pergola at the site offers shade from the sun and adds a pleasing architectural feature.
If any of you are fishers at heart, do not worry! There is a place for you here in Lakefront Park, which is Little Prior Lake. The lake is nestled near the entrance to Lakefront Park, and is stocked each year with northerns, bass, sunfish and crappies.
