Cassie: Hey everybody, this is Cassie from Helpertech. I just wanted to talk to you about batteries today. Here, you’ll see I’ve got three different batteries of various usage in them. I’ve got this one. This is a practically new battery, relatively thin. You can see I took it out so it’s got a little bit of wrinkles, but one thing to note about a newer battery is it’s very flexible. It moves around. It’s just a big sack of chemicals for the actual battery replacement.

Cassie: It’s pretty malleable, but when you get batteries that are more used like this one, they tend to be hard, really hard. As the chemicals get used and they’re going down over time, they don’t shift. You can hear there’s some air in there. That’s not from me taking it out of a phone. That’s just natural progression. As they get really bad, you get something like this. That’s a big fat boy. There’s only a little bit to give in this.

Cassie: I wouldn’t even want to try to bend this because I’d be afraid of popping this casing, which could then lead to some really bad problems with battery chemicals leaking out all over. This is just something to keep in mind. If you have an older battery, it’ll start expanding like this eventually. You can stop in, and we can replace those. iPhone battery repairs are $49 if you can leave it with me for an hour, or 59 if you need to get it done in 15 minutes.
