Simple Installation Tutorial of a Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Hello, I’m Jamie from Helpertech. I’m currently at our Burnsville location here this morning. What I wanted to cover today is we get a number of customers coming in the door and asking us what’s the proper way to install a tempered glass screen protector, like the one I have here, without getting any bubbles in it? So we decided to put together a quick tutorial to show you guys how to install that tempered glass.

First thing you’re going to want to do is you’re going to want to make sure all debris and dirt and anything, and fingerprints, are off your screen before you put the tempered glass on. So what we do here, take one of our rags, give it a quick wipe down to get, again, any fingerprints and such off. Then we like to come back with the canned air and blow off any debris that might be on there. If you don’t have the canned air, you can take a pieced of packing tape, flip it over to the sticky side, and just lightly press it down, and that will work for getting that debris off there as well.

Okay. So now that you’ve got your screen cleaned off, I’m going to peel the backing off the protector. Now what I’ve found to be the most effective way to do it is first thing is line up the home button opening and then take your two fingers and hold that in place there. Then what you want to do is center the earpiece over the opening for the earpiece. Once you’ve got that lined up, you’re just going to drop that tempered glass down onto the screen. Now, your next move is to draw a line down the center of the screen. What hopefully happens there, like you pretty much saw, is all the air is going to be pushed outward to the sides, rather than trapped in the middle.

That is the number one mistake that we see when people incorrectly install that tempered glass, is they don’t allow those bubbles to be pushed out and they trap them throughout the screen. And then you’ve got to peel it back off, try to get them out. So as long as you follow that technique of running your finger from the home button up to the speaker right after you set it down, that should eliminate the most of the bubbles for you.
